A Mamluk style silver inlaid brass pen box of oblong, stadium-shaped form. The vessel is crafted from brass and features silver-toned metal inlay and engraved decoration. The exterior and interior surfaces are covered in panels of Arabic calligraphy, floral scrollwork, and geometric arabesque motifs. The hinged lid is fitted with a decorative clasp that includes a keyhole. Circular medallions with script are positioned on the side and end panels. The underside of the box also displays engraved decorative elements.
