This group consists of five textile fragments from Iran, including Safavid period examples, dating from the 17th to the 18th century. The fragments are composed of silk grounds with brocaded patterns in metallic-wrapped thread. The collection includes a rectangular crimson silk fragment featuring four gold metallic boteh motifs; a narrow gold-toned border fragment with a scrolling floral and vine pattern; a bronze-colored silk fragment with staggered floral bouquets in gold thread; a trapezoidal orange silk fragment with a large central floral motif and blue-outlined leaves; and a dark indigo-blue silk fragment with a vertical floral spray. Each piece is mounted to white card stock.
