The piece is constructed from earthenware or fritware with polychrome underglaze decoration. The central medallion depicts a figural scene featuring a seated couple in a landscape; the male figure wears a turban and plays a stringed instrument, while the female figure is dressed in patterned garments. This central scene is enclosed by a narrow band of black-on-white calligraphic-style motifs. The wide rim is decorated with six lobed cartouches that alternate between blue and white floral designs and scenes of canids in landscapes. Polychrome floral sprays fill the spaces between the cartouches. The outermost border consists of a dense black-on-white geometric lattice pattern. The reverse features an unglazed foot rim with a dark brown wash applied to the central recessed area.
