This vertical narrative scroll painting, known as a Pata or Patachitra, depicts the Life of Krishna and is attributed to the Kalighat School. The work is executed in pigment on paper and is constructed from multiple sheets joined together to form a continuous vertical format. The narrative is presented in seven horizontal registers, each framed by decorative borders with floral and leaf motifs. The iconography features a blue-skinned central figure identified as Krishna, appearing in various scenes including a river crossing in a traditional boat, forest landscapes, and interactions with other figures. One register depicts a green-skinned figure with a bow and a golden deer, while the lower registers feature a large yellow fish and figures standing beside a domed shrine or deul. The artistic style is characterized by bold black outlines, large expressive eyes, and a vibrant color palette of pink, yellow, blue, and green.
