AN ARABIC MANUSCRIPT: DHAYL TARIKH MADINAT DIMASHQ (SUPPLEMENT TO THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF DAMASCUS), VOLUME II, DATED 1303 AH (1885–1886 AD)

This Arabic manuscript is the second volume of the Dhayl Tarikh Madinat Dimashq, a supplement to the history of the city of Damascus. The work is composed and collected by the Syrian scholar Abd al-Qadir ibn Ahmad ibn Badran al-Dumani al-Dimashqi al-Hanbali, dated Shahar Shaaban 1303 A.H. The title page contains a triangular inscription in Arabic identifying the title, the author, and the volume number. The text is written in a clear Naskh hand on toned paper. Black ink is used for the primary text, with significant rubrication in red ink to highlight the names of the biographical subjects. The manuscript includes various marginal notes and corrections. The volume is bound in dark brown pebbled leather featuring blind-stamped decorative elements, including a central mandorla-shaped medallion and smaller vertical ornaments.
