Description
A Timurid tinned copper bowl from 15th-16th Century Persia featuring a bulbous body and a short, flared rim. The exterior is decorated with a wide horizontal band of Thuluth-style calligraphy interspersed with lobed floral medallions. This register sits above a lower band of arched lambrequins containing foliate scrollwork. The vessel is constructed from a copper-alloy base with a tinned surface. The decorative elements are hand-chiseled.
