ISLAMIC, INDIAN & ANCIENT ART
Lot 45:
Description
Of circular form with scalloped sides, the solid silver box is designed as a flowerhead, the lid surmounted by a central domed knop surrounded by eight hinged compartments. Each cover is topped with a finely cast bird, likely peacocks, adding a sculptural quality to the surface. When opened, the compartments reveal petal-shaped interiors intended for storing spices, betel nut, or condiments.
