Buyer's Premium:

A nineteenth-century watercolour and bodycolour painting on paper depicting three musicians seated cross-legged on a sandy riverbank, with a body of water and a small sailing vessel visible in the background. The figures are dressed in traditional robes of cream, orange, and green, each wearing a distinctive tall, flat-topped cylindrical hat in shades of blue and red. They are shown with traditional Indian stringed instruments, including two long-necked lutes and a bowed instrument. The work is executed in the ethnographic style of the European School in India, specifically associated with Hyderabad. In the lower right corner, within the painted area, the cursive inscription Hindoo Musicians is visible. The painting is presented in a modern gilded frame with a cream mount featuring a gold-lined inner border.
