Lot 344: A CHINESE CARVED JADE LANDSCAPE PLAQUE PENDANT ON A BEADED SILK CORD

A rectangular jade plaque carved in low relief with a traditional landscape scene. The stone exhibits a pale celadon to translucent white hue with a natural yellowish-buff skin inclusion near the lower centre. The decoration features a figure, likely a scholar or immortal, positioned near a pavilion nestled among mountain peaks and pine trees, with stylized scrolling clouds in the upper section. The top of the plaque is worked with a ruyi-head border and pierced for suspension. The pendant is mounted on a contemporary braided silk cord of deep reddish-brown colour. The cord is embellished with a variety of beads, including a large barrel-shaped bead of pale green jade, four polished black spherical beads, and small red bead spacers.
