Buyer's Premium:

A 19th century Ottoman yataghan featuring a recurved, single-edged steel blade with a T-backed spine. The blade face bears a small circular impressed muhur containing stylized Ottoman characters that are not legible as a name. Chased along the spine near the hilt is a horizontal line of Ottoman script, which includes the talismanic name Qitmir (ق ط م ي ر) at the right and the word Sultan (س ل ط ا ن) further left. The hilt is constructed from silver with a silver-gilt finish, featuring a traditional rounded eared pommel and a bolster decorated with intricate filigree and openwork scrollwork. The grip panels are chased with floral and geometric motifs. This item is missing its scabbard.
