Lot 207: AN ISLAMIC COPPER ALLOY BOWL WITH KUFIC INSCRIPTION, PERSIA, 12TH - 13TH CENTURY

A thin-walled copper alloy bowl featuring flaring conical sides rising from a flat, circular base. The interior is decorated with a wide horizontal band situated just below the rim, containing an incised calligraphic inscription in Kufic script. The characters are highly with elongated vertical and horizontal strokes. This decorative band is bordered by double-incised lines, with further concentric rings incised towards the centre of the vessel. The exterior is undecorated, showing a dark, blackened patina typical of aged metalwork.
