Buyer's Premium:

A small South Indian copper alloy devotional figure representing Lakshmi Narayana, the deity Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi. The sculpture is cast in a late Vijayanagara or Nayaka regional style, traditional to Tamil Nadu. Vishnu is depicted four-armed, seated in the lalitasana posture of royal ease upon a tiered rectangular pedestal. His upper right hand holds the shanka (conch shell) and his upper left hand holds the chakra (discus). The lower right hand is raised in the abhaya mudra gesture of protection, while his lower left arm supports Lakshmi who sits on his left thigh. Both figures wear the kirita mukuta conical crown and traditional jewellery. A circular sirachakra nimbus is present behind the head of Vishnu. The base is decorated with a stylised lotus petal padmapitha motif.
