Lot 178: A TIMURID DRAGON-HANDLED JUG, CENTRAL ASIA, LATE 14TH-EARLY 15TH CENTURY

A Timurid cast bronze jug of Central Asian form, featuring a bulbous body and a flared neck. The exterior surface is decorated with fine, vertically-corded linear ribbing. The vessel is fitted with a zoomorphic handle terminating in a dragon head at the rim, with the lower junction incorporating pierced scrollwork decoration. The piece stands on a recessed circular foot. The bronze displays a dark, aged patina with significant areas of green verdigris oxidation throughout. No characters, stamps, or marks are legible on the mottled surface of the base.
