A LARGE COLLECTION OF EARLY ISLAMIC CLAY SEALS WITH KUFIC INSCRIPTIONS, LIKELY DATING FROM THE ABBASID TO FATIMID PERIODS.

The collection consists of multiple circular discs produced in terracotta clay, Each item features a centrally impressed circular stamp containing legends in Kufic or early Arabic script. These inscriptions functioned as official markers of weight standards for gold and silver currency or as seals of authority. Legible legends include a two-line inscription on a buff-coloured disc reading al-Hamd lillah (Praise be to God), a reddish-brown disc reading Adil (Just), and a buff-coloured disc reading Ma sha Allah (As God willed). Numerous other pieces contain multi-line legends that are partially obscured by surface weathering. One pale green disc in the lower-left quadrant features a small circular piercing. The group demonstrates a variety of weight standards and administrative functions consistent with early Islamic fiscal practices.
