Lot 125: AN ENGRAVED BRONZE CELESTIAL GLOBE WITH ZODIAC SIGNS, MID OR EAST OF ASIA, 16TH - 17TH CENTURY

The surface is densely decorated with incised lines forming a celestial grid, including the ecliptic and equatorial circles. The resulting segments are filled with numerous inscriptions in Arabic script. Several rectangular and circular panels feature incised figurative motifs representing constellations or zodiac signs, including seated human figures and animal forms. A small rectangular inset of a lighter, yellowish metal is present, bearing two lines of incised characters that are not clearly legible.
