The gemstone is a translucent reddish-orange variety of chalcedony. It features an incised depiction of a standing female figure, identified as Minerva (Athena), carved in profile facing right. The figure is shown wearing a traditional crested helmet and a flowing classical chiton. She holds a palm branch in her right hand and extends a laurel wreath in her left.
