This large-format hardcover volume contains a collection of monochrome plates featuring wood engravings of 19th-century life and landscapes in the Levant and Palestine. The work is quarter-bound in red cloth with a black spine. The plates are accompanied by bilingual captions in English and Arabic, each citing a date range of 1875-1880. Visible subjects include ethnographic and topographical scenes such as the Al-Mukata (Kishon) River, Jenin, the Dead Sea, musicians with the Arghul and Rababa, a Cotton Cleaner, a Shoemaker, and a Coffee House. The internal pages are numbered, with visible foliation including 28, 40, 72, 89, 94, and 97. A rectangular purple ink stamp containing Arabic script is present on the front free endpaper. This volume is a later 20th-century bound collection or reproduction of illustrations originally featured in the 19th-century work Picturesque Palestine, Sinai and Egypt.
