An Ottoman tinned copper-alloy mortar, known as a havan, dating to the 17th century. The vessel features a truncated conical body that tapers toward the top before flaring into a wide, everted rim. The exterior surface is decorated with several horizontal bands of engraved ornamentation. The rim edge is finished with a repeating diagonal hatched pattern. The body is divided into two primary horizontal registers separated by braided and hatched borders. These registers feature alternating floral motifs, including tulips and carnations.
