The head of the object is forged into a calligraphic form, featuring a vertical post with a bud-shaped finial, a recurved hook, and a crescent-shaped element. This calligraphic form is representative of the name Ali in Arabic script. The long shaft is of faceted section and includes a decorative mid-section composed of turned baluster motifs and two rectangular blocks. Each of these blocks is pierced with a horizontal slot. The staff concludes with a rounded terminal decorated with ring-turned detailing.
