Lot 156: A RARE FATIMID KUFIC TALISMANIC HIRZ PLAQUE/PENDANT, EGYPT OR SYRIA, 10TH - 12TH CENTURY

The piece is designed with two integral suspension lugs at the upper corners, indicating it was intended to be worn as a protective pendant or stitched onto garments. The obverse features a four-line KUFIC Arabic inscription in relief, executed in a script. The text contains standard devotional formulas: the first line reads the Bismillah (In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful); the second line contains the Shahada (There is no god but Allah); the third line reads al-Malik al-Haqq al-Mubin (The King, the Manifest Truth); and the fourth line concludes with Muhammad Rasul Allah (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah).
