Lot 154: A SELJUK SILVER PENDANT AMULET WITH KUFIC INSCRIPTION, PERSIA, 12TH CENTURY

The object is surmounted by two integral suspension loops for attachment. The obverse is cast and chiselled with three primary decorative registers. The upper register features a circular medallion containing interlaced foliate scrollwork, flanked by dense symmetrical arabesques. The central register consists of a curved band containing mirrored or muthanna kufic Arabic calligraphy, likely forming a repeated pious invocation of Ya Allah (O God). The lower register terminates in a pointed base and is decorated with a formalised palmette within scrolling foliage. The entire pendant is bordered by a scalloped or lobed edge. The reverse remains plain and unornamented.
