Lot 119: AN ARABIC CHRISTIAN MANUSCRIPT, SINIRI, ABBA PAUL. KITAB MAWA'IZ AL-ANBA BULUS, VOLUME II

This manuscript is the second volume (al-juz’ al-thani) of a collection of Christian homilies entitled Kitab Mawa’iz al-Anba Bulus (The Book of Sermons of Abba Paul), attributed to Abba Paul Siniri, the Suwayani monk (Anba Bulus Siniri al-Rahib al-Suwayani). The text, comprising sermons numbered eighteen to thirty-eight, is written in a neat Arabic Naskh script in black ink, with section headings, keywords, and decorative elements highlighted in red ink. The volume opens with a formal index of the included sermons. The text is written on cream-coloured burnished paper and features catchwords at the bottom of the left-hand pages. Occasional marginalia are present. The final leaf features a decorative triangular text block and a closing statement. The volume is bound in brown leather featuring blind-stamped geometric and floral decorations, including a central cross-like floral motif.
