Lot 10: AMER AL-OBAIDI (IRAQI, B. 1943) 'HORSEMEN' (SIGNED)

This mixed media work on paper by the Iraqi artist Amer Al-Obaidi depicts a stylized, abstract scene of figures on horseback. The composition is executed in the artist’s characteristic modernist style, incorporating Cubist-influenced geometric forms and vibrant decorative patterns. The figures and their mounts are rendered in a bold colour palette of turquoise, red, yellow, and green, set against a background partitioned into shades of brown and dark brown. The work is signed in Arabic script in the lower right corner عامر العبيدي (Amer Al-Obaidi) and dated ٢٠١٧ / ٥ / ٩ (9 May 2017). The painting is housed in a wide, textured gilt-finished frame under a white mount.
