This Safavid Revival horizontal rectangular plaque is constructed from silver using an intricate openwork piercing technique. The central composition features Arabic calligraphy in a flowing, intertwined script. The word Allah is visible within the calligraphic arrangement on the left side of the panel. The script is positioned against a dense ground of delicate foliate scrolls and arabesque motifs. The plaque is finished with a shaped, lobed border that includes pointed central and end terminals. The reverse of the metalwork is plain, revealing the edges of the hand-pierced design.
