Buyer's Premium:

The object is constructed from fritware, also known as stonepaste, and finished with a translucent alkaline turquoise glaze. Decorative elements are applied in black underglaze paint. The plumage is represented by repetitive short V-shaped strokes across the back and wings. Sinuous interlocking S-scroll patterns decorate the crest of the head, the neck, and the underside of the wings. A broad V-shaped motif is painted on the chest to define the bird form, and single black dots indicate the eyes. The bird is shown in a perched position atop a short, flared, and hollow circular foot.
