Lot 30: SADEQUAIN (PAKISTANI, 1930-1987), NASRUN MINALLAHI WA FATHUN QAREEB, 1977

The upper portion features the Basmala rendered in black script, surrounded by a, cloud-like aura with radiating lines. The central and lower portion contains a large-scale calligraphic inscription in white and black script reading Nasrun Minallahi Wa Fathun Qareeb (Help from Allah and a near victory). The calligraphy is set against a landscape of undulating brown hills and a light blue sky filled with numerous small, brightly coloured flags in yellow, green, and pink. The brushwork in the background and flags is loose and expressive, while the calligraphy maintains a graphic precision. The work is signed in the lower left corner.
