Lot 251: A MEDIEVAL ISLAMIC CALLIGRAPHIC SIGNET RING

This signet ring is composed of a dark-toned metal alloy, consistent in appearance with patinated bronze or heavily tarnished silver. The design features a pointed oval vesica piscis shaped bezel that is integrated directly into a simple, rounded shank. The face of the bezel is decorated with an incised calligraphic design in a stylized script, resembling historical Kufic or Arabic lettering. The characters are integrated into a decorative pattern across the surface of the bezel. The construction shows evidence of manual forging, with an irregular and slightly misshapen shank.
