Lot 248: AN INDIAN MEENAKARI ENAMELLED RING, 20TH CENTURY
0 views
A wide domed statement ring featuring traditional Indian craftsmanship. The ring is constructed of yellow gold, which is unmarked but consistent with high-karat gold used in this style of jewelry. The exterior surface is decorated with cobalt blue and white enamel foliate and floral motifs in the Meenakari tradition. The center of the ring features one large, irregularly shaped polki uncut diamond, bezel-set with a foil backing in the Kundan style. The surrounding enamel work is accented with multiple smaller polki diamonds scattered throughout the design. The interior of the ring head exhibits a textured gold surface with small apertures behind the stone settings.
