Ten Deccani poison bottles, India, 17th – 18th century. This collection is composed of cast bronze and brass vessels. The group includes two fish-shaped flasks with cast scale patterns and fins. One tapered cylindrical flask features incised decoration and a hinged lid, with a funnel-shaped component attached by rings and a chain. A tall, elongated vessel has a faceted body with vertical beaded borders. The assortment also contains several teardrop-shaped and oval vessels of varying sizes, some with faceted bodies and others with incised floral or geometric patterns. A small cylindrical container features horizontal banded decoration and pointed finials. Decorative techniques include hand-engraving and incising used to create foliate scrolls and geometric bands.
