This rectangular wooden box is constructed from contrasting woods, featuring dark ebonized borders framing light coloured panels. The exterior is decorated with dense chip carving throughout. The hinged lid contains a central raised rectangular field with a series of square carved blocks, all surrounded by multiple registers of geometric and floral motifs. The sides are adorned with horizontal bands of repetitive foliate and oval patterns. The interior is unlined, showing the natural grain of the wood and two metal hinges.
