Buyer's Premium:

This carved pale green stone handle, possibly nephrite jade, is fashioned in a crescent form characteristic of a crutch handle, or zafar-takiya, in the Mughal or North Indian style. The body features deeply incised decoration of leaves with central veins and lateral ribbing. The object consists of a curved upper section with rounded terminals and a central cylindrical base, which is hollowed out to facilitate mounting onto a shaft. The stone exhibits a soft, celadon-colored translucency and a smooth, polished finish.
