Buyer's Premium:

This rare and unusual monumental Qajar dagger, originating from 19th century Persia, is a khanjar of all-steel construction. The piece is extensively decorated with low-relief engraving and gold koftgari inlay highlights. The steel hilt is of traditional I-shape, featuring fine floral and foliate scrollwork with central medallions depicting courtly figures in traditional Qajar-style attire set within gold-inlay borders. The curved, double-edged steel blade is fully embellished with engraved pictorial scenes near the hilt, including human figures and animals amidst lush floral motifs, transitioning into dense repeating patterns of flowers and vines along the length. The matching all-steel scabbard follows the pronounced curve of the blade and is covered in relief-engraved panels depicting courtiers and hunters interspersed with intricate floral lattices. The scabbard terminates in a characteristic rounded spherical finial. The lot includes a modern black-finished display stand.
