Lot 99:
Description
This collection of Safavid cuerda seca pottery fragments originates from Persia, featuring the traditional decorative motifs characteristic of the 17th century. Each piece is constructed from a buff-colored earthenware body decorated with hand-painted polychrome glazes. The ornamentation includes stylized saz leaves and floral heads rendered in a palette of cobalt blue, yellow, and salmon pink against a cream-white ground. These fragments are architectural in nature, with the reverse surfaces displaying a coarse ceramic texture and traces of mortar or adhesive residue from previous installation. One fragment retains a small modern adhesive label on the decorated surface.
