Description
A Qajar underglaze-painted molded pottery tile depicting a mounted falconer prince, Persia, 19th century. This circular ceramic plaque features a central moustachioed horseman in traditional Persian attire, brandishing a blade and holding a small mythical bird, set against a vibrant cobalt blue ground. The composition includes architectural and floral motifs in the background. The central scene is framed by a scrolling foliate border in brown and white. The reverse of the piece shows several kiln spur marks.
