Description

A Qajar Tehran molded pottery tile featuring a polychrome glazed surface. The central composition depicts a noble figure in traditional attire and a turban mounted on a white horse, gesturing toward a large, long-tailed bird in the sky. The scene is set against a cobalt blue ground and includes architectural domes in the background and various floral motifs, such as lotuses and rosettes, at the base. A decorative scrolling foliate border in turquoise and blue runs along the top edge. This Qajar Tehran mould-formed piece is presented in a simple wooden frame. The reverse shows an unglazed ceramic body with a wire for hanging and residual adhesive.
