Description
This Persian kulah khud helmet is constructed with a hemispherical steel bowl featuring damascened silver and gold floral motifs and calligraphic bands. The decorative program includes dense foliate scrollwork and circular medallions containing floral sprays with gold-toned highlights. A tall, faceted spike surmounts the apex of the bowl, which is flanked by two small plume-holder tubes. The lower rim is fitted with a camail of interlocking iron mail designed for neck and shoulder protection. A bracket for a sliding nasal guard is attached to the front, though the guard itself is not present.
