Description
An Ottoman ceremonial textile panel featuring a central armorial motif. The piece is constructed from a reddish-brown velvet ground in a square format. The central decoration consists of an embroidered crown surmounted by a crescent moon, executed in metallic bullion thread and accented with small metallic beads or sequins. Each of the four corners is decorated with stylized foliate sprays in matching metal thread embroidery. The perimeter is finished with a long, gold-colored bullion fringe. The reverse is backed with a plain reddish-purple fabric lining.
