Description
This traditional short vest, known as a jelek, is crafted from a red velvet textile base and features extensive metallic gold-toned cord and thread embroidery. The garment is embellished with dense couched decorative patterns throughout. The back panel is centered by a prominent sunwheel or spiral motif contained within a teardrop-shaped frame. The front panels and borders are similarly decorated with geometric and scrolling threadwork. The interior is lined with red fabric and includes yellow and orange silk or cotton trim along the inner front edges.
