Description
This Syrian or Palestinian thobe dress is a traditional long-sleeved garment constructed from black fabric featuring extensive and intricate multi-colored embroidery. The decorative work consists of dense geometric patterns, including chevrons, diamonds, and stylized floral motifs, executed in shades of orange, yellow, pink, and green, interspersed with metallic gold and silver-toned threads. This embroidery is most concentrated on a large V-shaped yoke at both the front and back, as well as along the sleeve cuffs and the lower hemline. A carved coral-colored bead is secured at the center of the front neckline as an ornament. The garment displays traditional hand-crafted construction techniques throughout.
