Description
AN ARABIC ALCHEMICAL MANUSCRIPT, KASHF AL-ASRAR FI HATK AL-ASTAR, WRITTEN IN MECCA BY ALI BIN ABDULRAHMAN ALTAYFI AND DATED 1099 AH, 1688 A.D
This handwritten Arabic manuscript is titled Kashf al-Asrar fi Hatk al-Astar (The Disclosure of Secrets and the Rending of Veils). The scholarly volume is composed of over 100 leaves of aged, handmade paper. The text is executed in black ink using a clear script, with specific headings and key phrases highlighted in red rubrication, a style frequently associated with alchemical or mystical treatises. The manuscript includes various marginal notes and historical ownership inscriptions throughout the pages. The volume is housed in a dark reddish-brown leather binding featuring a central blind-stamped mandorla medallion and decorative ruled borders.
