Description
This pair of Art Deco souvenir desk ornaments was produced for the 1939 New York World’s Fair, representing the iconic Trylon and Perisphere structures. The units are composed of marbled red and solid black cast resin, identified as Bakelite, showing the characteristics of cherry amber or faturan. Each set features a red sphere and a tapering triangular obelisk secured to a rectangular black base. The bases are stamped with gold-toned text reading NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIR. One unit includes a liquid-in-glass thermometer mounted to the reverse of the obelisk.
