MIXED LOT WHITE METAL JEWELLERY – SHELLS AND SEASHORE ITEMS, ETC. 335g APPROX
Mixed lot of shells and seashore related items. Most are charms or pieces ready to be mounted on chains or jump rings.
Jewellery unmarked (tests as silver)
Gross weight: 335g APPROX
Condition: Generally no issues.
Provenance: From the workshop of the Late Rachael Whitteridge. Rachael was a silversmith lived in the UK and who travelled the Caribbean being inspired by seashells and the seashore. Her range of individually crafted silver shell necklaces, bracelets, earrings, other items and bead jewellery were cleverly worked to a high quality. She set up a small company (Rachael Whitteridge Designs) on the tiny Caribbean island of Nevis.
The shells used in these pieces were originally found on Caribbean beaches.
A mould was created from each shell, which allowed a sterling silver cast to be made through a process of lost wax casting.
Most shells were unharmed by the process, and were returned to their natural environment.
