Description

An Ottoman Blkan silver filigree belt buckle, known as a pafta, comprising two symmetrical paisley-shaped panels joined by a central circular boss. The panels are decorated with elaborate wirework filigree and granulation. Each panel is set with a central red cabochon stone or glass paste and accented by multiple small turquoise-colored beads. The reverse side reveals two wide metal bars for belt attachment and a hook-and-eye fastening mechanism. The item is constructed from silver-toned metal with applied decorative elements.
