Description
This Chinese silver lidded vessel is of compressed globular form and features intricate dragon ornamentation. The exterior body is decorated with three quatrefoil panels, each depicting a five-clawed dragon in high-relief repoussé set against a stippled ground with swirling clouds. The shoulder is encircled by a band of scalloped ornamentation. The pull-off lid is surmounted by a foliate-based finial and a long, curved, stem-like handle. The vessel is supported by a low, unadorned circular foot. No hallmarks or maker marks are visible on the underside.
