Lot 353:
Description
This group consists of three Indian cast copper-alloy vessels, identified as kumkum or spice boxes. Each box is designed with multiple lobed compartments arranged in a circular or polyhedral formation. The lids are surmounted by avian finials, primarily depicting peacocks with stylized plumage, which serve as central handles. The individual compartments are equipped with hinged or fitted lids. Each vessel is supported by integrated decorative feet of varying designs. The construction utilizes traditional casting techniques typical of Indian metalwork, featuring a dark, aged patina.
