Description
A North African brass astrolabic quadrant, likely 19th century. The instrument features a fan-shaped body engraved on both faces with mathematical scales and Arabic script. One side displays a detailed sine-cosine grid, while the reverse shows concentric altitude arcs and radial lines. The instrument is equipped with a suspension loop at its apex and two integral sighting vanes positioned along one of its straight edges. The surface is incised with abjad numerals and astronomical data.
