Description

A group of Indian Bidriware vessels featuring silver-colored inlay on a dark metal alloy ground. Each vessel is of bulbous form with a flared neck. The decorative program includes a central motif of two stylized fish facing one another, set within scrolling floral and foliate patterns. A band of scrollwork ornaments the neck, while a radiating petal border is positioned on the shoulder. The underside of each vessel is flat with a central pin or plug. This metalwork technique is characteristic of the Deccan region of India.
