Description
This carved wooden block is rectangular in form and constructed from a dark wood with a patinated surface. The primary decoration consists of a central oval carved in high relief, depicting a winged lion or griffin positioned to the left of a central tree. To the right of the tree are two deer or stags set within a pastoral landscape. The entire composition is framed by a decorative hatched border. The reverse of the block is flat, displaying the natural wood grain along with localized dark staining and faint handwritten pencil notations.
