Description

This core-formed glass vessel is an oinochoe, a type of perfume jug, originating from the Eastern Mediterranean region. The piece is crafted from translucent turquoise blue glass. It features a flared rim with an applied yellow thread and a tall neck decorated with horizontal yellow trailing. The piriform body displays a marvered zig-zag or feathered pattern in yellow and white glass. The vessel is finished with a single vertical handle extending from the shoulder to the rim and a small, rounded knob at the base. The construction follows the ancient core-forming technique common in the Hellenistic period.
