Lot 323:
Description
This hand-carved wooden architectural panel, identified as a temple car fragment or ratha of South Indian origin, depicts a four-armed Hindu deity, Lord Vishnu. The figure stands in a formal pose on a tiered pedestal and is rendered with a tall crown known as a kirita mukuta, traditional jewelry, and a sacred thread. The deity holds symbolic attributes, including a mace or gada. The carving is framed by scrolling foliate motifs and a makara-style archway. The wood displays a dark, naturally aged patina with visible grain. On the reverse, the flat surface features a modern metal hanging bracket and hand-incised Telugu characters reading Siddhi, meaning success or spiritual attainment.
